Ovation Tornado

Vibrato Version

The Storm series of semi-hollow body electrics from the late 1960's included the Tornado model.  Placed in the lineup just below the more popular Thunderhead, the Tornado shared the same basic design and in fact had an identical body.  The neck was blonde maple finish with an ebony unbound fingerboard.  Chrome Schaller hardware included a spring based vibrato tailpiece.  The same model was also available without the vibrato.  Electronics consisted of two high-output Schaller pickups wired to twin Volume and Tone controls and a 3-way toggle selector.  This particular model show below has one 1st generation pickup (neck) and one 2nd generation pickup (bridge).  The tuners are chrome enclosed Kluson Deluxe.
