This 1969 Ovation Hurricane is a truly rare piece.  According to the early catalogs the Hurricane was never offered in the dark nutmeg color finish.  Only colors available were sunburst or red.  But here is living proof that indeed a nutmeg Hurricane, at least one, does exist.  Speculation is that it was either a custom order or perhaps near the end of the Hurricane product life (1967-1969) guitars were assembled from whatever remaining parts existed.  The nutmeg body is common with the Tornado and Thunderhead guitars.  Other than the color, this Hurricane is standard issue with the usual 1-7/8" nut, Kluson deluxe enclosed tuners with mini-buttons, twin high-output pickups with dual volume and tone controls and 6-way adjustable bridge.  Click HERE for specifications.
